This Data Protection and Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) is designed to show the Bank’s firm commitment to and respect for your privacy.

This Policy relates solely to information supplied by you when you visit the Website. This Policy should be read in conjunction with the Bank’s Terms and Conditions of use of Al-Salam Bank-Seychelles Limited Website (the “Terms”) which can be found on the Website. Your use of the Website indicates your acknowledgment and acceptance of this Policy and the Terms.

Unless legally compelled to disclose, we have a commitment to safeguard and keep confidential all information relating to our customers and their financial affairs, however such information is received. The Bank wishes to assure you that your private information will be treated as confidential and with the highest standards of security. The use of your information will be kept to the minimum required in order for the Bank to continually monitor and improve its services to its customers and to keep you informed about its products, services and other opportunities within the Bank.

The Bank does not generally seek to identify users of the Website or obtain a user’s personal information unless such information is volunteered or provided by the user for the purposes of using the Bank’s on-line banking facility (the “On-line Banking Facility”). Any personal information that you do provide to the Bank through the Website will be used solely for the purpose of providing you with the services you have requested through the Website, to update and enhance the Bank’s records and to advise you of other products and services which may be of interest to you. This Policy will not alter or affect any information otherwise provided by you to the Bank. In providing your personal contact details, including telephone and facsimile numbers, you are agreeing that the Bank may contact you using those media.

The details which you are requested to provide on the Website may be transferred by the Bank to other companies within the Bank’s group of companies and to certain other third parties including regulators, lawyers and auditors; this may involve the transfer to group companies or third parties in jurisdictions other than Seychelles and by using the Website you consent to such transfers. Other than to the limited third parties mentioned above, your details will not be revealed by the Bank to any external body, unless the Bank has your express permission, or is under either a legal obligation or any other duty to do so.

The Bank maintains strict security standards and procedures with a view to preventing unauthorized access to your data and pledges its intention to meet fully internationally recognized standards of personal data privacy protection and to comply with the requirements of all applicable data protection/privacy laws. The Bank will ensure compliance by its staff with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality; however, it is your responsibility to maintain the secrecy of your user identification and login details. 

Data provided by you is retained as long as the purpose for which the data was collected continues; data is then destroyed or de-identified unless its retention is required to satisfy legal, regulatory or accounting requirements or to protect the Bank's interests. 

In order to improve our service to you through the Website, we will occasionally use a "cookie". A cookie is a small amount of information that our web server sends to your web browser when you visit certain parts of the Website and the use of which is intended to assist our understanding of your interest in and usage of the Website. Cookies do not contain any personal of confidential information and are not used to identify you but are simply designed to enhance and improve your experience of the Website. Should you wish to disable these cookies you may do so by changing the settings on your internet browser; however, disabling cookies may prevent access to parts of the Website including access to the On-Line Banking Facility.

The Bank reserves the right to amend this Policy at any time and will place any such amendments on the Website. This Policy is not intended to, nor does it, create any contractual rights whatsoever or any other legal rights, nor does it create any obligations on the Bank in respect of any other party or on behalf of any party.
